Polina Nedyalkova, Director at Amusnet Italy, Outlines Player Retention Tools and Sustainable Growth in a Jamma.it Interview

Amusnet has significantly strengthened its presence in Italy over the past few years. How important is the Italian market within the company’s overall European strategy?

Italy is a core strategic market for Amusnet in Europe. Its size, maturity, and regulatory rigour make it a key benchmark for sustainable growth. Strengthening our presence here is about building credibility and long-term partnerships in one of the most demanding jurisdictions in the region.

Italy is considered one of the most regulated gaming markets in Europe. From your perspective, what are the main challenges and opportunities for international providers operating here?

Italy’s regulatory framework is indeed strict, which creates higher entry barriers and longer certification timelines. However, this also ensures a stable, transparent, and player-protected environment.

The key challenge is continuous compliance and adaptation to evolving regulations, while the main opportunity lies in operating in a mature market with high player trust and strong operator networks. For companies like Amusnet, this favours providers who focus on quality, reliability, and long-term commitment.

Amusnet offers a portfolio of more than 250 certified games. How do you adapt your game development strategy to meet the preferences of Italian players?

We adapt our portfolio by combining global performance insights with local market data. Italian players tend to prefer classical mechanics, engaging math models, and strong visual storytelling. We focus on localised themes and content, balanced volatility and player-friendly gameplay, certified, compliant releases tailored to ADM requirements. This ensures our games resonate culturally while meeting regulatory standards.

Partnerships with local operators seem to be a key element of your strategy. How important are these collaborations for building a strong position in the Italian market?

Partnerships are absolutely crucial in Italy. Local operators provide market insight, distribution strength, and player understanding. Our strategy is built on long-term collaboration, where we support partners not only with content but also with tools, flexibility, and dedicated account management. Strong partnerships are the foundation of our market growth.

Player engagement has become a central topic in the gaming industry. What kinds of promotional tools or features is Amusnet developing to support operators in this area?

Player engagement is a major focus for us as Amusnet evolves into a full-scale retention partner. Given Italy's strict advertising limits, we provide an ecosystem designed to boost player lifetime value through integrated technology, rather than just standalone game content.

Our Bonus Platform drives this strategy, enabling fully compliant mechanics like free spins, customised campaigns, and tournaments. Coupled with our standout jackpot systems – Golden Coins Link and Cash Bomb – and in-game features like Buy Bonus, we help operators maximise retention. Ultimately, we give partners the real-time control and personalisation needed to run highly engaging, fully compliant promotional campaigns.

Amusnet operates in both the Online and Land-based segments. How important is the integration between these two channels today?

The integration between online and Land-based is becoming increasingly important, as players today expect a seamless experience across channels. While Amusnet’s presence in Italy is currently focused on the online segment, we see strong potential in expanding into Land-based in the future. Our experience in operating across both segments in other markets positions us well to support this transition. By leveraging game familiarity across environments, strengthening brand recognition, and providing operators with a unified content strategy, we aim to build a consistent player experience. This omnichannel approach is a key element of our long-term vision and a future competitive advantage in the Italian market.

The Italian market is highly competitive, with many international providers active in the sector. What do you believe differentiates Amusnet from other game developers?

Our differentiation comes from a combination of strong, proven game performance, a flexible and partner-oriented approach, and a deep understanding of regulated markets. We also offer a balanced portfolio of online solutions, with expansion into the Land-based segment as well. We are not just a content provider. We position ourselves as a reliable, long-term partner focused on sustainable growth.

Looking ahead, what are your hopes and ambitions for Amusnet over the next decade?

Looking ahead, our ambition is to solidify Amusnet's position as a leading global provider while continuing to grow responsibly in regulated markets such as Italy. Over the next decade, we aim to expand our market footprint across Europe and beyond, continue investing in product excellence, and further strengthen our position as a trusted partner for operators. Ultimately, our goal is to deliver consistent value.
